Term 2 off to a terrific start in P1!
6th Feb 2026
The first day back after the Christmas holidays brought the snow to the school grounds and P1 and P2 enjoyed having some fun playing in our snow covered playground!
This kicked off P1's mini topic about winter nicely! We enjoyed learning about the signs of winter and polar animals, including penguins. We made an ice sculpture and were excited to watch it melt throughout the day!
We then moved on to think about Transport for the rest of the half term. We conducted a transport survey, counting how many of each different vehicle passed by our school... there were a lot of cars! Unfortunately no buses this time!
We have enjoyed pretending to be pilots, cabin crew and airport staff in our roleplay area this term too! The children were jetting off all over the world in our pretend plane!
We learnt all about how friction helps cars brake and carried out an experiment with pull back toy cars, investigating which surfaces were best for the car to travel on. We heard about how the tread on our car tyres prevents the cars from slipping and sliding all over the road, due to friction!
Finally, this half term saw the 100th day of school for the boys and girls! We dipped our fingers into the ink pads 10 times to create 100 dots for 100 days in school. We thought about how hard we have worked and how much we have learnt in 100 days!
