Reading

Reading this week is an online storybook called Tale of a Singing Zebra. You can find the link to the book here… https://www.roythezebra.com/guided-reading-story.html . This is a chapter book and each week we will be taking 2 chapters to read and the written activities go with the chapters you have read. We hope you like this story! This is a great website which also has lots of literacy games to play at home and some songs. Have a look and see what other things you can do on the website.

Writing Tasks

Don’t worry… not all these tasks need to be completed. We would suggest completing a minimum of one task for each chapter. You or your child can decide which one.

Each week for your writing task, you will need to find out some information about different zoo animals. Remember when we do our writing we look at what the animal CAN do, what the animal HAS and what they EAT. Just like we did with our piece of writing ‘All About Sharks’. There will be a video from Andy’s Safari Adventures found on CBeebies for you to watch and then write you own report on each animal.

This week we will be looking at Series 1:5 Andy and the Chimps.  When you are watching the program, try and remember some facts that you can write about in your report.  Remember to have a think about what chimps CAN do, what chimps HAVE and what chimps EAT.  These three words ‘can’, ‘have’ and ‘eat’ will help you lots with your writing so you can remember and write about different facts. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09s3kq9/andys-safari-adventures-series-1-5-andy-and-the-chimps
