Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Summer term.
We begin this month with important school meals' news. There is a new menu in operation now - available from the beginning of May. Please click on the link below to access it. If you want a hard copy, please request it through your child's class teacher.
Our after-school programme begins the week of 1 May - if you want to check dates, times etc, click on the link below. Please note that the teachers' clubs/teams are not included, as they will tell the children themselves, as this term tends to have lots on and irregular sessions.
What a beautiful month weather-wise so far! Our P1s are so taken with this outdoor life that they've ordered a new kitchen - for outside! Their brilliant 'mud kitchen' arrived and was installed in glorious sunshine, but they're just as excited at the thought of making wet and muddy mud pies. And cakes. And biscuits. And tea...
This month sees the climax of the school sports' seasons, with teams competing in various tournaments/festivals. We will post pictures as they become available, so please come back and visit...
First up for Andrews was our Mini Rugby squad, who, after playing in their local East Down Blitz, travelled to Ulster HQ at Ravenhill for a very special day out! As always, the boys put 100% effort into their matches and came away with many happy memories.
Taking a little break from sport, we must report on a very successful Environmental Youth Speak event that we hosted in the Andrews Hall on behalf of the Ards & North Down Borough Council. The school has a very proud record of participation and success in this event and this year saw our very own Trashy G put in a wonderful performance to finish runner-up. The topic on which each competitor had to make a 3 minute presentation was 'A day in the life of a Waste Sorting Super Hero' - and what talent there was on show! Local schools represented were Andrews Memorial PS, Ballyholme PS, Ballymagee PS, Bangor Central IPS, Carrowdore PS, Glencraig IPS, St Finian's PS, St Patrick's PS, Ballygalget and Victoria PS - well done to everyone and thanks to our own P6 and P7 pupils for their enthusiasm as an audience!
Our big PTA fundraiser this term saw us celebrate fitness with Fitness Freddy and his Superhero dance moves - a great day for everyone! Staff and pupils entered into the spirit fully and there were some impressive 'moves' on show... Thanks to everyone for their generosity - the PTA will be letting you know how much the event raised very soon. There are more photos on the twitter feed, too.
