June 2013

Here we are, the end of another school year!  The sun is shining.  Will it continue to do so?  We very much hope so...

We have two important additions to the website this month which we hope you will find enjoyable / useful.  The first is a set of photographs from each of our Sports Days - one for P1-3 and one for P4-7.  Click here to download a zip file containing P1-3 photographs and click here to download a zip file containing the P4-7 photographs.

The other document that we have uploaded is our Policy update on Assessment & the Annual Report, which details both the Department of Education's and the school's perspective and requirements.  This guide is designed to be viewed along with the pupils' Annual Report - although it is really only significant for the P3-7 year groups.  Information is also included about Standardised Scores which appear on the P4-7 Annual Reports.  Any feedback on the report, or any questions about assesment, are welcomed.  You can view the report by clicking here.

Now, what about this for a wildflower garden...  Isn't it simply wonderful?  And beautiful?  Pictured with the garden in full bloom are members of our Eco Club, who helped sew the seeds all those weeks ago.  The green shoots came quickly, but then, just at the start of June, the flowers blossomed into this magical array of colour.  The garden has really added to the front of the school and provides visitors with a lovely colourful welcome.  Of course, not all its visitors are human - the garden attracts lots of insect feeding activity.  The yellow 'house' in the foreground, for example, is for butterfly / moth pupae - just before they hatch.

For further updates, please check out the Year Group News Sheets (on the right of this page).

For  photographs of the P7s' recent - brilliant - trip to Amsterdam and The Netherlands, check the Gallery page.

Thanks to everyone who attended our P1-3 End of Year Service and P7 Leavers' Assembly; both were special occasions and the children performed admirably.  In particular, we want to send our extra-special best wishes to all our wonderful P7 children as they move to their next schools in September - may they all continue to be brilliant ambassadors for our school.

Our final Assembly of the year saw us present a staggering £3321.59 to Autism NI, after the children in P3-7 took part in a sponsored bounce for this most important local charity.  Thanks to everyone for their incredible generosity!

Finally, please have a great summer.  We'll see you all again in the Autumn.

Take care and stay safe.
