Welcome back, and Happy New Year!

We will be updating our news page shortly, but we are pleased to welcome our fantastic, hard-working and committed PTA to our website.  Please click on Newsheet to find out what's been going on, as well as what events are coming up.  Even more importantly, try your best to support the events themselves.  The funds that they raise genuinely make a difference to what we can offer the children in our school.

Please take the time to check out the year group news sheets to the right of this page - they are designed to keep you up to date in more detail.  Of particular note, are the P6/7 visit to Stormont, the P4 visit to Castle Ward and the P5s welcome of the Fire Service to school.

A new year, a new beginning, at least for our brand new apple tree!  Below you can find evidence of all the hard work - and rest - that went on during its planting.  We marked this event by using our two youngest and two eldest pupils to plant the tree.  Let's hope by P7, our two P1 helpers may even have tasted the produce!

There will be lots more news on the planting front next month...

Talking of new beginnings, any passer-by will have noticed the building site next to the Andrews Hall.  We are delighted that our new lift installation is well underway.  This will bring our hall into the 21st century and provide the whole community with an up to date and accessible venue.  Although the building work has curtailed our planned Titanic Centenary events this term, the lift is critical to the building's future, as well as the school's ability to promote the building for further community use.  We look forward to its 'opening' at the end of March 2012, in time for the important events in April 2012.

What goes up, must come down...  After the foundations were laid, the steel structure could be erected and the wall broken through upstairs and down.  Notice our 'old' fire escape has now been largely removed.
